    Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge is situated in the Mluwati Concession, in the Kruger National Park, just 40km (24.8 miles) from the Orpen Gate. This Kruger Park lodge is only 5.5 hours drive by road from Johannesburg.

    Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge is in a high-risk malaria area, guests are advised to take maximum precaution.


    Accommodation:

    Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge's rooms are all en-suite with large King size beds. The rooms feature antique baths, air-conditioner and mosquito nets. The views from the rooms are of the river and savannah.

    The lodge is built in traditional Tsonga style and the staff members are dressed in authentic wear. This creates the atmosphere of a real Tsonga village at Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge.


    Location:

    Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge is only a 5 and a half-hour drive from Johannesburg, near the Orpen Gate of the Kruger National Park.

    Directions to the Orpen Gate:

    From Johannesburg, follow the N4 out to Nelspruit. From there take the R40, north to Hazyview, Bushbuck Ridge and heading on to Klaserie. Just before Klaserie, turn right onto the R351 – which will take you to the Orpen Gate of Kruger National Park, South Africa. Here you should secure a map of the Park's internal road layout.

    Orpen Gate entry: (approximately 1.5 hours driving time)

  • Take the H7 towards Satara
  • Drive for approximately 6.7km
  • Turn right onto the S106 (Dirt Road)
  • After 1.6km, turn right onto the S140 towards Talamati
  • After 19.5km, turn right onto the S145
  • Continue along the S145 for 10km till you see the Hoyo Hoyo sign, turn right
  • After 3.5km you will reach a T-junction which is signposted, turn right
  • Continue along this road for 4km and you will find Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge

    Directions to the Kruger Gate:

    From Johannesburg, follow the N4 out to Nelspruit. From there take the R40, north to Hazyview. At Hazyview, get on to the R536 which leads directly to the Paul Kruger Gate, and on to Skukuza. Here you should secure a map of the Park’s internal road layout.

    Kruger Gate entry: approximately 2.5 hours driving time.

  • Take the H1-2 towards Skukuza
  • Pass Skukuza and take the H1-2 towards Satara
  • After approximately 20kms turn left onto the S36 (Dirt Road), it is signposted
  • Carry on along the S36 for approximately 39km and keep right on the S36/S125 at the Hamiltons no entry sign
  • After 2km you will reach a T-junction, turn left onto the S36/S125
  • After 4.5km you will reach a T-junction, turn right onto the S36
  • After 6.5km, turn left onto the S145
  • After 2.3km, turn left at the no entry sign for Hoyo Hoyo guests only
  • After 3.5km you will reach a T-junction which is signposted, turn right
  • After 4km you will find Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge

  • 50km from the Orpen Gate
  • 80km from the Kruger Gate
  • 110km from Hoedspruit
  • 25km from Nelspruit
  • 506km from Johannesburg

    Your stay at Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga will be a unique and unforgettable experience. Evenings at Hoyo Hoyo are spent under the stars with traditional dancers, storytelling and Sangoma (traditional healer) introductions.

    Other activities at Hoyo Hoyo Lodge include bush walks, bird watching in the hide overlooking the waterhole, and game drives. Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge offers 2 game drives daily in the Kruger National Park. In summer, morning drives depart at 05:30am and evening drives depart at 17:30pm. In winter morning drives depart at 06:00am and evening drives depart at 16:00pm.

    Guests at Hoyo Hoyo Tsonga Lodge can expect excellent game viewing and sightings of Elephants are guaranteed from the lodge as it is situated on an ancient Elephant route.
