Location
Orpen Camp is situated in central Kruger National Park, South Africa, in a very dry region of the Park. Orpen is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna. Tall Acacia and Marula trees provide shade during those hot South African days, and beautiful aloe and daisy gardens provide a tranquil and peaceful setting.
Orpen Camp is situated 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) from Rabelais Dam, 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Olifants Camp and 140 kilometres (87 miles) from Skukuza Rest Camp. Orpen Gate is 5 and a half hours from Johannesburg and 68 kilometres (42.2 miles) from Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit.
How to get there
Directions from Johannesburg/Pretoria
Head towards Nelspruit on the N4, then take the R540 Belfast turn off. At Lyndenburg, turn left onto the R36 heading north. Thirty kilometres (18.6 miles) before Hoedspruit, turn right onto the R531 and travel towards the gate. Please allow 4-5 hours for this journey to the gate. Orpen Main Rest camp is located right at the gate.
